大晦日に何がある What’s on New Year’s Eve
シドニーの大晦日には世界的にも有名なカウントダウン花火が上がります。
シドニー市を上げての世界イベントの日です。その花火を見るために世界中から人々がシドニーに押し寄せてくるのです。
この日はシドニー市の場所によって昼過ぎから交通規制が始まります。

On this day, traffic restrictions begin in the afternoon depending on the location of the city of Sydney.
車でシドニー市内に来ることは出来たとしても帰宅に大変時間がかかります。また罰金もすごい額になるので移動の際は電車バスなどの公共交通機関を利用した方が良いです。

This restaurant in the Botanic Garden is truly an urban oasis. Ring in the New Year with graceful watching the fireworks that take place from 9 pm and at the beginning of the year.

場所的に最高の位置にあるカフェシドニー。オペラハウス、サーキュラーキーにハーバーブリッジと見渡せます。
私が調べた時はまだ年末の予定は発表されていませんでしたが、例年では大晦日にスペシャルメニューを提供してくれます。ちなみに昨年は大晦日6コースディナーで大人お一人様$1100でした。
Cafe Sydney in the best location. It overlooks the Opera House, Circular Quay and Harbour Bridge.
When I looked it up, no plans for the end of the year had been announced yet, but they usually offer a special menu on New Year’s Eve. By the way, last year it was $1100 per adult for a 6-course dinner on New Year’s Eve.

ここからご紹介するレストランは例年であれば大晦日特別メニューを提供しているレストランです。ですが私が調べた時はまだ発表していませんでした。これから発表していくであろうと思われるのでご紹介致します。
The restaurants introduced here are those that usually offer a special New Year’s Eve menu. However, when I looked it up, it had not yet been announced. I think it will be announced in the future.
FLYING FISH

長期休暇に入るレストランもある Some restaurants take a long vacation.
大晦日です。こちらの学校のスケジュールで言えば夏休み、サマーバケーションです。つまりクリスマス前から始まっているホリデーの途中です。それに合わせて長期休暇を取るレストランもあるのです。
It’s New Year’s Eve. According to the schedule of this school, it is school holiday (summer vacation). Some restaurants take long holiday to coincide with that.
という事はクリスマス前後から年明けまで休むレストランもあるわけなのです。なので大晦日も当然お店は閉めています。こちらのスクールホリデーはクリスマス前後から始まって1月いっぱいもしくは学校や学科によれば2月中旬頃まで夏休みになっているところがあります。自分の子供がその期間休みであれば一緒に夏休みを取ろうと思うのが親であり、取れる権利があるわけです。となると夏休みの途中の大晦日にわざわざお店を開ける理由はありません。
This means that some restaurants are closed from around Christmas until the beginning of the year. So, the shop is closed on New Year’s Eve. This school holiday (summer vacation) starts around Christmas and ends in January or until mid-February depending on the school or department. If their child is on school holiday for that period, it is the parent who wants to take a holiday with him/she. So there’s no reason to bother opening a restaurant on New Year’s Eve in the middle of summer vacation.
郊外にあるお店や小さい個人店は皆さん結構閉めています。なのでこの時期は営業時間が不規則に変わる場合があります。
お目当てのレストランがあったり、訪れようと思っているレストランがあるのであれば、必ずこの期間の営業時間を調べておいてください。

クルーズレストラン NYE Cruise Restaurant
この日はクルーズも大忙しです。花火が午後9時からと年越しの2回上がりますのでそのどちらも船の上から観覧できるようにクルーズが準備されています。ですので当然ディナーがクルーズ船内で楽しめてるようになっています。
The cruise is also very busy on this day. Fireworks go up twice, from 9 pm and on New Year’s Eve, so both cruises are prepared so that you can watch them from the ship. So, of course, dinner can be enjoyed on the cruise ship.

大晦日は普段とは違います。
シドニー市自体もこの日のスケジュールを発表しています。
New Year’s Eve is different from usual.

それだけ人々がこの日のカウントダウン花火を見に来る訳です。
大勢人が集まるということはそれに合わせての注意事項があります。

多くのレストランがこの日のためだけの特別メニューを用意しています。またそれ目掛けて多くの予約客がお店に訪れます。席は埋まっていると思ってください。甘い期待を持ってレストランに訪れ都合よく席に着こうと思わないでください。入店できず人の群れの多さで身動き取れず空腹で年越しをする羽目になるかもしれません。悲しい限りです。
Many restaurants offer special menus just for this day. Booking customers also visit the restaurant. Think the seats are full. Do not come to take a seat conveniently. You may not be able to enter the restaurant without a booing and get stuck in the crowd and end up spending New Year’s Eve hungry. As much as it is sad.
日差しが強すぎる Strong Sunshine
季節は真夏です。普通に暑いです。日中が暑いのは分かりますが夕方以降も暑さが残っています。レストランに訪れる前や花火を見る前に体調を崩さないようにしてください。
The season is mid-summer. It is normally hot. I know it’s hot during the day, but the heat remains after evening. Try not to get sick before visiting a restaurant or watching fireworks.
ひったくり等の軽犯罪が増える Increased petty crimes such as snatching
シドニーは安全と言われていますがこの日は特別です。人の動きが大変多い日です。そのような日はどうしてもひったくり等の軽犯罪が起こります。手荷物は少なく貴重品もなるべく持ち歩かないようにした方が良いと思います。
Sydney is said to be safe, but the day is special. It is a day when there is a lot of movement of people. On such days, petty crimes such as snatching inevitably occur. I think it is better to carry little baggage and valuables as little as possible.

ダーリングハーバー、バランガルー、サーキュラーキー、ロックスなどの観光地や花火が見えるポイントでは、多くのレストランがこの日のために特別メニューを用意していますし営業時間を変更しています。ですがすべてのレストランがそうではありません。郊外にあるレストランは案外年明けまで閉めてます。
