8月の季節は冬ですが7月ほど寒くありませんし、少しづつですが春の訪れを感じることが出来る時期です。
なので、Cherry Blossom Festival のような春を感じることが出来るイベントが行われます。
そんな季節の変わり目に行われるイベントをご紹介致します。

City2Surf
シドニー大手新聞社Sydney Morning Heraldがメインスポンサーを務める毎年8月第2日曜日に行われる市民参加型マラソン大会です。
シドニー中心地にあるハイドパークがスタート地点でウイリアムストリートを通ってダブルベイ、ローズベイを通り、ノースボンダイ方面からゴールのボンダイビーチに行く14kmのマラソン大会。
参加費は、7月20日までなら$98.00。それ以降は、$114.00です。
2023年に8月13日(日曜日)に行われます。
Sydney Morning Herald, a major Sydney newspaper, is the main sponsor of this marathon held on the second Sunday of August every year.
A 14km marathon(City2Surf) that starts at Hyde Park in the heart of Sydney and passes through William Street through Double Bay, Rosebay to Bondi Beach in the finish line.
The entry fee is $98.00 until July 20. After that, it’s $114.00.
It will take place on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
私の経験上、このイベントが終われば冬の寒さも終わり徐々に春の気候に変わっていくように感じています。
In my experience, when I feel this event is over, the winter will end and the weather will gradually change to spring.
FIFA Women’s Soccer World Cup
7月20日(木曜日)から8月20日(日曜日)の間、オーストラリアとニュージーランドで行われるFIFA Women’s World Cup (女子サッカーワールドカップ)。
決勝戦はシドニーで行われます。
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from Thursday 20 July to Sunday 20 August.
The final will be played in Sydney.
アメリカチームのワールドカップ3連覇なるか?それとも他の国が阻止するか?
Will the U.S. team win three consecutive World Cups? Or will other countries block it?
ちなみになでしこジャパンは2011年に優勝しています。
By the way, Nadeshiko Japan won the championship in 2011.

Thirty Years of Future Fashion
創立 30 年目を迎えたフューチャー ファッションが、パワーハウスミュージアムで開かれます。
オーストラリアファッション主要教育機関から出てきた次世代のデザインを紹介するイベントです。
フューチャー ファッションの 30 周年を記念して、展示会には、ディオン・リー、トニ・マティチェフスキー、ミシェル・ジャンク、ソング・フォー・ザ・ミュートのリナ・タイなど、オーストラリアファッション業界で傑出したキャリアを積んできたファッションデザイナーの作品が展示されます。
Future Fashion, now in its 30th year, will be held at the Powerhouse Museum.

Beauty and the Beast
ディズニーミュージカルBeauty and the Beast(美女と野獣)がキャピトルシアター（Capitol Theatre）で行われます。
The Disney musical Beauty and the Beast will take place at the Capitol Theatre.
Full Moon
8月には、2回満月が見れます。
まず8月1日(火曜日)スーパースタージョンムーン (Super Sturgeon Moon)
と、
8月31日(木曜日)スーパーブルームーン (Super Blue Moon)
満月の呼び名はネイティブ・アメリカンの生活様式が反映されています。
8月はチョウザメを釣る時期であったため、8月の満月の呼び名が、チョウザメの月（英語：Sturgeon Moon）と付けられました。
そして8月の満月に関して言えば、どちらもスーパームーンなのでお見逃しなく。

It is the second full moon that appears in a month.
The August 2023 Super Blue Moon will be the largest Full Moon of the year as it will be closer to Earth than any other Full Moon.
Cirque du Soleil
ブリスベン、パース、メルボルン、アデレード、そしてシドニーとオーストラリア5都市で公演されるサーカスです。
シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ クリスタルは、アイススケーターやアクロバット選手が、氷上で素晴らしいパフォーマンスを見せてくれます。シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユサウンドと共にこの世界感をご堪能してください。
シドニーは8月3日(木曜日)から13日(日曜日)Qudos Bank Arenaで行われます。
The circus is performed in five Australian cities:
Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney.

シドニーダーリングハーバーで行われる第54回目のシドニー国際ボートショー。

Darling Harbour Fireworks
8月は、12日(土曜日)、19日(土曜日)、26日(土曜日)の計3日花火が午後8時30分から上がります。
本来であれば8月5日(土曜日)も花火が上がるのですが、その日は先のSydney International Boat Showが行われているため上がりません。
In August, fireworks will go up from 8:30 p.m. on 12th Saturday, 19th Saturday, and 26th Saturday.
Normally, fireworks would go up on 5th Saturday, August, but they will not go up on that day because the Sydney International Boat Show is being held.
Auburn Botanic- Gardens Cherry Blossom Festival
Auburn Cherry Blossom Festival (オーバーンシドニー桜祭り)はこの時期シドニーで花見が出来ると毎年オーストラリア全土で話題となるほどのイベントです。

Ferragosto Festival
フェラゴスト(Ferragosto)は、イタリアの文化、エンターテイメント、料理を祝うフェスティバルです。
シドニーに居ながら楽しめれるイタリアのストリートフェスティバルも2023年に26周年を迎えます。
このイベントは、ファイブドック(Five Dock)クイーンズロード(Queens Road)からライオンズロード(Lions Road)までの約800メートルに渡って屋台や展示があります。
Ferragosto is a festival celebrating Italy.
This Italian Street Festival, which you can enjoy while staying in Sydney, will also celebrate its 26th anniversary in 2023.
The event features stalls and exhibits across nearly 800 meters from Queens Road to Lions Road at Five Dock.

アイルランドで最も有名なショー。
今回は、15周年世界ツアーを記念して世界アイルランドダンスチャンピオンであるマイケル・ドネラン(Michael Donnelan)による振り付けが見所です。才能あるミュージシャンと世界クラスのダンサーの共演による伝統的なアイルランドのステップダンスを堪能してください。
Ireland’s most famous show.
It is a celebrate the 15th anniversary of the world tour at this time. The highlight is the choreography by world Irish dance champion Michael Donnelan.

Whale Watching
この時期はシドニー近郊でホエールウォッチング(Whale Watching)が出来ます。
ツアーもありますし、タイミングが合えば、ボンダイビーチやマンリーがあるノーザンビーチからでも見ることが出来ます。
Whale Watching is available near Sydney.
There are many tours available, and if the timing is right, you can see them from the Northern Beaches (Manly) and Bondi Beach.
The Penrith Show
8月25日(金曜日)から27日(日曜日)の間に行われるイベントです。
今年で178回目になるイベントで、ペンリスショーグラウンド(Penrith Showground)で行われます。
屋台があったり、ホームクッキングのコンペがあったり、エンターテイメントがあったりと賑やかです。
開催地であるペンリスショーグラウンドは、ペンリス駅から徒歩15分ほどかかる場所にあります。もちろんバスで行けるのでバス(781、793、795、797)を利用する方が便利です。
This event will take place between 25th Friday, August to 27th Sunday, August.
This year marks the 178th edition of the event, which will take place at the Penrith Showground.
There are food stalls, home cooking competitions, entertainment and so on.
The Penrith Showground, the venue, is about a 15-minute walk from Penrith Station. Of course, it is more convenient to take a bus (781, 793, 795, 797).

9月になるとシドニーの気候も季節も変わります。暖かくなりますので屋外で楽しめれるイベントは嬉しくなるものです。
In September, Sydney’s climate and seasons change. It gets warmer, so events that can be enjoyed outdoors are a great thing.
Chatswood Street Fair
It is a street festival held in Chatswood on the Sydney North Shore.
It is very lively with parades, stalls, and performances on stage.
Origami
7月2日(日曜日）と9月3日(日曜日）に行われる折り紙（Origami）イベントです。
参加者同士が折り紙の作り方を教え合い和気あいあいなイベントです。
日本文化の折り紙が、Origamiとして認知されています。
Origami events are held on 2nd Sunday, July and 3rd Sunday, September.
It is a friendly event where participants teach each other how to make origami.
The origami of Japan culture is recognized as Origami.
